Dance Bethesda at Round House Theatre Saturday, March 9

Bethesda is not a local hotbed for dance, nor does it pretend to be. But tonight, the Bethesda Urban Partnership invites some top troupes based in the District, Maryland, and Virginia to perform an affordable showcase at Round House Theatre. Performers include local modern ensembles Christopher K. Morgan & Artists and Karen Reedy Dance. There’s also seasonally appropriate footwork from Teelin Irish Dance Company and other globally inspired pieces by Furia Flamenca and Silk Road Dance Company. For balletomanes, three top Washington Ballet students will perform the pas de trois from Le Corsaire. Anchoring the trio is 17-year-old phenom Albert Gordon. In 2012, the Eagle Scout from McLean was the only D.C.-area artist to receive a Princess Grace Award, an elite honor for achievement in theater, dance, or film. He was invited to join the Boston Ballet but stuck around Washington to finish high school and be a teenager. The other companies aren’t going anywhere, but dance fans should see Gordon before he leaps out of town.

The performance begins at 8 p.m. at Round House Theatre, 4545 East-West Highway, Bethesda. $20. (301) 215-6660. bethesda.org.
