Statehood Visits Vote free or die.

Here’s how the District government’s trip to New Hampshire to lobby for a resolution in the state legislature supporting D.C. statehood was supposed to work: Mayor Vince Gray and a delegation from the D.C. Council would fly up to Concord, New Hampshire would pass the resolution, and then they’d move on to the next state until—inexorably—freedom was in our grasp. Here’s how it did work: The trip was snowed out once, and when it was rescheduled, the committee considering the nonbinding resolution backing statehood defeated it by a vote of 8-3, as Granite State lawmakers declared that D.C. residents had chosen to live here despite our disenfranchisement and ought to buy more guns. The visit was such a success that the next one on tap, to Florida, never even got scheduled. On to the next strategy.
