HR-57 The jazz club gets location 3.0.

The popular jazz club HR-57 (officially, “HR-57 Center for the Preservation of Jazz & Blues”) moved to its third location in 18 months this year. The newest address, 1007 H St. NE, opened in June—after six months of delays—at a double storefront just two blocks from its previous one at 816 H St., since remodeled as Fever Bar and Lounge. HR-57 3.0 maintains the popularity (its latest relocation came because the prior space proved too small for its customer base) and vibe as more of a hang than a venue. Its talent lineup is a small rotation of D.C. musicians and bands—but they happen to be among the city’s finest. It hosted, and titled, the year’s best local jazz recording: alto saxophonist Antonio Parker’s double-disc Steppin’ Out: Live at HR-57.
