Slates don’t come much blanker in D.C. politics than David Grosso, who knocked off Michael Brown in November’s election to be the next at-large councilmember. The former Council aide chose his opponent wisely: Brown’s campaign account went missing over the summer, the latest in a long series of financial problems, both personal and political. That opened the door for Grosso. It’s doubtful that many voters had a clear idea of what they were getting, because we don’t know all that much about Grosso; the worst Brown could dig up was a 20-year-old misdemeanor for getting caught with pot on a camping trip to Florida. The former Deadhead and Georgetown Law grad’s politics beyond campaign soundbites are a mystery that will be solved once he’s sworn in at the beginning of the year.
