Endless Elections Just keep voting until they tell you to stop.

It’s a good time to be a political sign-maker in D.C., as campaign season never seems to end. A string of politicians’ guilty pleas meant two special elections in 2012 and at least one more in 2013. Former Councilmember Harry Thomas Jr. kicked things off by resigning his seat and pleading guilty to stealing city funds in January. The special election for his seat came just a month after voters went to the polls for the Democratic primary. Fortunately, after Kwame “Fully Loaded” Brown resigned as D.C. Council chairman, the special election to fill his spot was held the same day as November’s general election. But Phil Mendelson’s victory in that race means the city will have another election to fill his old at-large Council seat on April 23. So if it feels like those signs on the lamp post by your house keep reappearing, that’s because they do.
