CineKink Film Festival at the Crucible Saturday, Nov. 24

Since the CineKink film festival’s last go-round, one very important thing happened: Fifty Shades of Grey, the kinky novel everyone’s aunt was whispering about this summer, became an international phenomenon. But the real kinksters had already been turned onto CineKink, which returns for a one-night stand tonight. The fest attempts to foster an open conversation about sexuality through film. Lisa Vandever, CineKink’s co-founder and director, believes that the right film, when viewed with a like-minded audience, can eliminate the isolation some people feel about their desires. From mildly spicy to downright raunchy, the films are selected based on the quality of their story and view of sexuality. The double bill begins at 6 p.m. with a selection of kink-friendly films, including The Transsexual Dominatrix and So Pomo, and continues at 8 p.m. with the “Best of CineKink 2012.” For those feeling particularly adventurous, a post-screening “play party” follows, where curious individuals can learn more about BDSM in a sex-positive setting and experienced practitioners can get down right away.

The screenings begin at 6 p.m. at The Crucible, 16 M St. NE. $10-$45. $25 Crucible membership required. cinekink.com.
