    For the second straight year, ChurchKey will feature a rare wooden cask filled with Heavy Seas Craft Brew! All five of CK’s beer engine lines will also be flowing with a different Heavy Seas firkin. Each of the five will be personally filled, dry-hopped, and spiced by our Beer Director Greg Engert at Heavy Seas). A sixth real ale will be served directly from a wood barrel previously used to mature bourbon! Additionally, ChurchKey will be pouring a bunch of different Heavy Seas beers on draft! The specific Heavy Seas brews are still under consideration, but all will start pouring at 4 PM! There is no admission fee for this event and all beers will be served and priced individually in 4 oz. tasters and full glass pours.

  • Homebrewer Matchup at Meridian Pint – 6pm

    See our post on this event for more details. The long story short is that homebrewers can drop off two bottles at Meridian Pint between Monday, July 25th, and Sunday, August 7th. Entrants must specify what they were aiming to produce, either a specific style or a specific deviation, for the judges’ consideration. The top three entries will win prizes and the right to call themselves Gold, Silver, and Bronze medal winners of the DC State Fair’s Homebrew Competition. Then, on Tuesday, August 16th, will follow the Pint’s Homebrew Matchup IV. The top 25 entrants from the DC State Fair will be invited to participate. This competition will be judged by the public on a “best of show” basis, and the top three entrants for this competition will also receive prizes and the opportunity to compete in our end of the year champions’ competition.

All oyster shells will also be recycled and returned to our oceans so that these habitats may be restored and maintained for their inhabitants.
