District Chophouse

Oktoberfest

Where Spotted: District Chophouse, 509 7th St. NW

Price: $5/pint

Why Go to Germany? October is the month for German beer, but festbiers are best when drunk from the source. That’s kind of hard when they’re brewed in Munich, but in Penn Quarter, brewmaster Barrett Lauer pours his Oktoberfest fresh. It’s a rich, garnet-tinted lager with a drier finish than most—perfect for ending cool evenings with leaves shuffling under your shoes.

Your Travel Dollar Goes Further in Adams Morgan, Anyway!

As the days get shorter, the socially acceptable time for beer-drinking gets longer, and Beerspotter needs your recommendations! Come to Crafty Bastards at Marie Reed this weekend and chat with me and fellow beer bloggers the Lager Heads at the City Paper booth from 3:45 p.m.-4:30 p.m. At least one of us will be sober. At least one of us won’t.
