Transformer's Summer Camp Thursday, Feb. 19, at Transformer Gallery

Despite pesky snow days and bleak groundhog predictions, it’s already summer at Transformer. The gallery’s month-long slate of Summer Camp programming combines the best of childhood summer camp experiences—heavy on the arts and crafts of course—with artist talks, game nights, and group dinners. Thursday’s camp agenda includes an open studio with artist-in-residence April Behnke from 1 to 5:30 p.m. (materials are provided), and “In the American Treehouse,” an experimental poetry reading from students of Corcoran professors/poets Casey Smith and Doug Lang, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Check transformergallery.org for a full schedule of campfire ghost stories, film critique, and parties. All that’s missing is homesickness and friendship bracelets.

THE GALLERY SPACE IS OPEN FROM 1 P.M.-5:30 P.M., AND THE READING WILL TAKE PLACE FROM 7:30-9:30 P.M. ON THURSDAY, FEB. 19, AT TRANSFORMER, 1404 P ST. NW. FREE. (202) 483-1102.
